Ocarina of Time

Before I raise my flameshields please let me please say that I like Ocarina of Time. I have replayed Ocarina of Time more times than any other game, even my favourite Twilight Princess. But why is it so beloved, I mean there has been better Zelda games since Ocarina.

Flame Shields UP!!!
Ocarina of Time was the first 3d Zelda and one of the first 3d adventure games, in fact it set the standard like Super Mario 64 set the standard for 3d games in general. Okay shall we start with the story. One day Link has terrible nightmares which lead to him and his annoying fairy companion Navi seeking out 3 spiritual stones and leaving his home of the Kokiri Forest. The first being with the Deku Tree who watched over him his whole life, one with the Gorons who'll only give it to you if you clean out their mine of dragon like monsters and the final one held by the fishlike princess Ruto whose trapped in a giant fish's stomach. Oh hey Ruto I've come to save.... you... I feel like I need to call that 'To Catch a Predator guy', dear god.
After all three stones are gathered you find the ocarina of time as Zelda flees from Ganondorf and you take up the Master Sword and travel forward through time 7 years, forcing you to take up new weapons and you're far too big to use your old ones and now must travel to 5 temples to save the six sages. One in the forest, one on death mountain and after visiting the zoras you get to go to Lake Hylia's temple, where you find... Princess Ruto whoa!
Okay whoa, what's the age rating on this game?
E for Everyone, in what way, did nobody see this or the rapey Zombies?
or this Bastard!?
Anyone time travel is required for the last two temples and after those are complete you go after Ganondorf himself, which has three stages. First fighting Ganondorf requires you to play tennis with him.
Followed by escaping from his collapsing tower and then Ganon. But I'm dodging the question, what makes Ocarina so special, I mean, it is just a 3d and tweaked version of A Link to the Past, adding very few new items to the series while renaming a lot of old ones, but the one add on that was special was the ocarina itself, it allowed you to play music with the buttons and c-stick and could play whatever you wanted not just the main game songs. Maybe it's the charm of NPCs as well as much as I like Twilight Princess, it lacked a varied amount of colourful NPC's.
Or maybe it's the varied and awe striking bosses and mini bosses such as Dark Link and Volvagia.
Maybe it's the first appearance of the lock on system or the fishing pond.
or maybe even the first time appearance of the legendary horse Epona.
But maybe I think its because of one simple fact, Ocarina of Time was the first game to force a continuity to the series as all the old games are part of the 'you darn fucked up' timeline, and without Ocarina we wouldn't have any of the other future zeldas. And no matter what anyone ever says this game just seems to be impossible to be hated. Unlike other 3d games at the time it took 3d and made it beautiful unlike a lot of 3d games at the time which were quite ugly. Of course the game does have it's problems, firstly is the water temple is vastly annoying and the iron boots are stupidly hidden away on the pause menu but this was fixed by the 3ds re-release. The other problem is a certain fairy who never leaves you alone, pestering you with shit you already know shouting 'Hey Listen' over and over driving you slowly but surely insane. And then we get pics like this:
I think we all agree that Navi is the one thing that sucks about this game.
Oh it's you, what you gonna do, I thought you were going to seek some power to kill me, well what you're going to do?
Yeah she was pretty pathetic, so how you going to kill me anyway?
Last words, I can bring you down with just one word.
No you're right, six, six words.
I DO NOT BELIEVE IN FAIRIES!
I'm The JoelMH and I never have to listen to her voice ever again, I'm on top of the world, nothing's getting in my way now.
