Dust: An Elysian Tail

Do you like Platformers, do you like action rpgs, willing to put up with Anthromorphic animals, then buy Dust. Dust is an amazing game. Let me explain.

STORY
Dust awakens in a forest with a talking magic sword with no memory at all and it's guardian Fidget, a talking flying orange bat thing.
Soon they discover that Dust was an Assassin responsible for the deaths of hundreds or is he?

Main Characters
Dust does follow that old cliche of Amnesia, but in the case of Dust, it's done well for once. Dust fights with the talking sword while Fidget your sidekick fights with energy blasts of varying elements unlocked through the story, which are weak, but Dust's spinning blade attack can pull in Fidget's energy which causes huge amounts of destruction. Fidget can throw pure energy, fire and lightning. Fidget is a light hearted and mischievous and lazy character who often breaks the fourth wall and unlike some video game sidekicks is enjoyable to have around. The Sword gives out wise information at times, but most of the time is just your trusty weapon.

Art Style

The game's art style is fantastic, everything has been hand drawn and is beautifully done. The cutscenes and even the character conversations are beautifully animated with talking characters.

Gameplay
Dust wields a sword that can be used for fast ordinary strikes or special spinning blade attacks that allow you to glide through the air. Other skills can be unlocked such as sliding, double jumping as well as others.
Each enemy you kill gives you xp which levels you up increasing stats such as attack, defense, health etc, but these can also be increased by equipment such as armour, magic rings and gear to sharpen your sword. This can be bought from shops or made by forging them from materials that enemies drop or that you find in treasure chests. Of course these chests cannot be opened without a key which requires a quick QTE puzzle to open. Also you can gain more xp by building up combos, which require you to hit enemies quickly and without being hit.

The keys are also used to unlock cages which contain secret characters to save, such as Super Meat Boy, but these require four keys each. If you save all 12 characters and go to the Sanctuary on the world map, you will get an achievement, but some of these are more difficult than the rest.
Though a good way to get good items is to take on the time trials which hidden on some of the areas available.
The gameplay can get quite fast and tough as enemies can flood the screen, meaning that the fidget attack combo can take out several enemies at once.
The bosses of the game are greatly varied as is the areas they inhabit as well as the basic monster designs and the people you encounter many of which give you sidequests to do, such as go to new areas to recover something or someone or gather several materials for them.  Of course I didn't touch on the shop to well. Basically if you find a piece of material in the wild, sell one of them to them, and in the future they will sell several of that item, meaning, it can make the random drop sidequests go so much more faster, you need to play smart in other words. The game's only downside is that isn't very long, but it is an arcade download, and it is very enjoyable while it lasts, so this game is worthy of a golden mew! I'm The Joel MH and BUY IT!
