Anime Review: Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt

After last weeks abortion of an anime, it's time for something that doesn't want to make me cut myself. This is Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt.

The series follows to angel sisters kicked out of heaven who to buy their way back in have to kill ghosts and collect the heaven coins when they die. Assisting them is Garterbelt, a gay african american priest with an obsession with bondage. Yeah did I mention this show was fucked up.
Also helping the sisters is a 'dog' named Chuck who seems that everytime god gives the angels a ghost killing job, chuck is struck by lightning to give the order.
and Brief, a teenage boy in love with Panty and a complete and utter nerd who suffers throughout the series.
Panty and Stocking themselves have powers based on well, clothing, Panty's Panties turn into a handgun and Stocking's stockings turn into swords. Character wise, Panty is a well...
Whore is about right on the money.
Stocking on the other hand is a Gothic Lolita with an obsession with candy, so she sucks on Lollipops instead of sucking...
Opposing the sisters is the villianous mayor of Daten City.
And the two demon sisters, Scanty and Kneesocks who have the same powers as Panty and Stocking in that order.

Personality wise, while Panty and Stockings believe in Anarchy, the demon sisters believe in rules, oh sorry I'm pronouncing that wrong.
Yeah, anyway in the japanese version they would shout 'What the hell' as a catchphrase when losing as changing to english is kewl, I guess, but that doesn't really work when they normally speak english so it was changed to, 'What the French Toast', and no I don't know why? Describing this show, I'd have to say chaotic, I once heard it described as a japanese South Park, but I don't think that fully describes this mayhem ranging from ghosts made of shit...

to monkey Phoenix Wright...
to ripping off Transformers...
parodying Lady Gaga...
to of course zombies.
This show is so off the wall, I'm starting to someone's about to give it Ritalin. Hell the goofy art style, that doesn't hang around for the transformation scenes.
Oh and I forgot to mention that the ghosts die in live action. Yeah the shows creators had all the ghosts made in real models and then blow them the fuck up, totally awesome! There are times sadly when the animation drops in quality a bit, but way more times they are better, I think it might of been a budgeting thing, but it's not bad for an anime that was made up during a drunken party celebrating the success of another anime. Seriously no fooling, this show had a very low bar to jump and blew it out of the water, this show is spectacular, it's pure profane dirty madness and I love it. The only downside is that season one ends in a way that makes you want a season 2 so badly which by the looks of things is never going to happen, damn it Gainax. Oh by the way that song 'Fly Away' that plays during the transformation, yeah that's a euphemism for sex if you didn't already get that. So do I recommend this anime... FUCK YES! I wouldn't watch it if you're hate things that are rude in any way, but if stuff like well South Park is your thing, then you'll love this, I'm The Joel MH signing off!
