Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier

So it's finally happening, I finally got a hold of a copy of this game.
The story opens as Jak, Daxter and Keira fly out to a place called the brink, where it seems the world in fact does end with waterfalls at the end of the sea and islands on the edge.

They get shot down by sky pirates and have to repair their ship before continuing on the quest for a fresh source of eco, discovering a green eco crystal that can convert dark eco into the four original colours which give you powerups like health increases for green, eco use reductions with blue, blasting from your fists for yellow just to name a few of the powers. Combat for Jak is similar to the other games but yes Dark Jak is gone and is instead replaced by 6 eco powers such as the red eco power Amplifier.
An attack that when shot with any of the guns which are the same as the other Jak games for the most part by the way, causes the ball of red light to explode, then there's the green power, Eco Construct which creates crystals for platforms.
Then there's the yellow power...

Stand over yellow vents to launch yourself in the air by rocket jumping to name just a few. The platforming parts of the game are classic Jak with the downside of no camera movement on the PSP version and locked in some places on PS2 which can cause deaths that aren't your fault. Next up is the part of the game that caused a lot whining.

Dark Daxter sections has Daxter transform into an 8 foot monster after being exposed to dark eco, who can hurl dark eco fireballs, smash the ground, pick up and throw enemies and using dark eco he picks up, spin super fast around the level. And how does it work, well I'm pretty sure you've seen it before.

The third and final play style which takes up most of the game is flying planes.
This is probably the best part of the game as the plane combat is actually very well designed, with easy turn around and barrel rolls just by using the control pad, making the flying really easy to do, meaning you won't get stuck with an enemy on your tail. Plus if you take too much damage, Daxter can climb out and repair the plane with repair packs that recover one section of the plane by 50%. Each time you take down planes or do the thing that I will explain in a second you can pick up scrap.
Scrap can be used to upgrade your planes by using it to buy weapons and armours and other modifications for your planes. The other thing is what Daxter can do. You can launch a rope onto other planes and use it to send Daxter over and using QTE's, Daxter can tear out scrap and powerups from the enemy plane.

To defend this game, the planes sections are really really good and so is the Dark Daxter sections, they're enjoyable and not too long so it doesn't get boring and only done a few times. The downsides for the game from the standard platforming due to the lack of camera on PSP, while it's not a problem on PS2 for the most part.
The armour system returns from Jak 3 to add more help and the gun system from Jak 2 also returns, not the one from 3 sadly and the Peacemaker is gone, replaced by the lobber, a green eco based grenade launcher.
