Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Xbox 360

A Star Wars game... well I did review a Star Trek game last year.
So this game is set between Episode 3 and 4 of the Star Wars movies. You play the secret apprentice later named Starkiller or Galen Marek as he serves Vader hunting Jedi to train to fight the emperor, or does he?

Fun Star Wars Fact: Starkiller is the original Skywalker
Originally Luke Skywalker was called Luke Starkiller, but the name sounded kinda evil so I'm guessing that's why they changed it.

Anyway the Apprentice is sent to kill a couple of low level Jedi including an old man and an insane alien before facing a true Jedi Master, Shaak Ti.

Fun Star Wars Fact 2: Shaak Ti originally died in Episode 3 but the scene was removed and thus no longer happened.
After defeating Shaak Ti, Vader of course betrays you and you end up on a quest to create the Rebel Alliance.

Game play wise, it holds up pretty well, it's 3rd person action game, where you have lightsabre attacks, shoot force lightning and 2 force buttons, one for pushing the other for telekinesis. These can be tied together in combos which you purchase from points you gain hidden in levels in holocrons and by levelling up. My favourite being the Sith Smash Sabre where after two swings of the lightsabre you use Force lightning to encase your lightsabre to slam into the enemy with a large blade of electricity. Yes, this game has combos and they work very well and fits the Star Wars universe maybe not entirely perfectly, but doesn't do too much damage. Also available are other abilities by using the block button combined with another button, using this with your lightsabre lets you throw it like a boomerang of death, electricity to create a shield and the force to create a giantic push wave.

But the combat does have a very big problem, you know them everybody...
Thank you Topcatyo (more at Photobucket). Yes QTE's.

A lot of bosses and minibosses cannot be defeated without completing a QTE, because everyone loves those right.
Though it is strangely pleasing to cut a At-St in two, but do you know what isn't pleasing, trying to bring down a star destroyer with the force. Why? Because you have to keep killing Tie Fighters with force lightning with the worst accuracy for a side scrolling section EVER!
You have to pull this thing down after you take out the ties but you can't bring it down in one go because the ties come back, so you have to take the ties down quick before the ship pulls itself back up which would be okay if the accuracy didn't fucking suck!!!!

You know I've gotta stop getting so enraged by these games that I have to go into Technical Difficulties, you know I've got to pay each time for that, though no idea who gets the money though.

You get to see a few worlds from the Star Wars universe, Feluccia, Cloud City, Raxus Prime, Kashyyyk and ending with the currently being built Death Star, the one that Luke blew up, not the wide open for attack one.

Now the achievements while mostly fair, there are 3 based on combos which sound like a good idea, except the prologue where you play as Vader makes it so easy that they are literally the first achivements you'll get within five minutes, though the prologue has 2 achievements of it's own which are missable and if you do, you have to restart the entire fucking game as this level is the only one not on level select.
You can change your character's costume which are unlockable in the game, as are lightsabre powerups, one type gives your blade ability's like more damage, block lasers better and the other changes it's colour and yes you can have a purple lightsabre like Mace Motherfucking Windu.
My favourite level in the game has to be the Death Star where you have to run down the laser's mechanism, smashing through lenses and dodging the laser.
It's also really fun to force push stormtroopers into it and watch them vapourise. What, why are you looking at me like that?

Yes you are seeing that, it is Darth Maul... sort of. You see during the game you have a robot servant who is programmed to try and kil Star
Proxy here can take the appearance and skills of any one he's programmed with including Darth Maul, so they created a character so Maul could be a boss, basically it's shameless but weirdly awesome.

So overall, this game isn't bad, it has annoying QTE's and that star destroyer boss and well there are two last bosses one for going the light side and the other for the dark side. The light side boss is the emperor who is really easy, he just hurls stuff at you, shoots lightning and sicks guards on you, the dark side boss is Vader however and he is really hard.
It's like the game is punishing you for being evil. Anyone overall I give the game...
But it's not going on the good movie games scroll.
