Starfox Adventures

Last time I said I was going to look at Starfox Command, but to truly understand the complete fuck up of the Starfox series, let's start with Lylat Wars itself.
An on-rails sometimes open arena based, sometimes on rails tank and submarine action, space shooter that was very very good, so how do we follow that... Starfox Adventures of course.
The game opens up as you play a blue haired fox named Krystal as she sneaks onto a flying pirate ship and here I start getting weird feelings of Deja Vu, you know that health meter looks famililar.
Wait a minute she's holding the hold item above her head, I swear I've seen this before. Anyway Krystal soon gets trapped in a magic crystal and is no longer playable for the rest of the game, this is where Fox comes in on his quest to free the Krozoa spirits, place the planet back together ala Sonic Unleashed and save Krystal.
So the game's main combat has fox swinging Krystal's magic staff at enemies and using magic spells with it such as fireballs and quakes while aiming with L-Targeting.
You also have a triceratops sidekick who digs up staff for you and breathes fire, but do you know what I'm not describing right now, fucking Starfox, it's well...

Anyway the stones that are needed to resemble the planet lie on the pieces floating above in dungeon like areas which need to be taken back to the two temples, the volcano temple and the ocean temple and to get the stones requires beating the boss of each temple and doing this increases you health by one fox head, wait a minute...
It's a Zelda clone, why is it a Zelda clone, what the fuck did you do Rare, what the fuck did you do and yeah they do have flying sections but only 6 tops.
and let's not forget the kickass sky battle Krystal has on a pterodactyl at the start of the game.
But let's talk about the main villain, General Scales, throughout the game he was shown to be calculating and powerful...

But when it comes down to actually fighting him, well....

But it turns out, are you sitting down, the final villain who seems to have been super glued in place, is none other than Andross.
And to be fair, the fight with Andross is hard, very hard, though that might be due to the fact that this game doesn't give you barely any flight sections to actually gain skills on.
Basically this isn't a Starfox game, it's really a N64 game that got raped by Nintendo who were like we haven't made a Starfox game in a while and we're lazy so rewrite this will ya? This game's true name is Dinosaur Planet.
The original followed two heroes who both had equal parts of the game, Krystal who fought with the battle staff which Fox wielded and a brown furred fox dude with a sword, so in other words Krystal was meant to be the main hero and not a princess that needs to be rescued and General Scales was meant to be the final badguy and not a whiny bitch.
In fact judging from a lot of the screenshots from the N64 development, it would have more likely been the male fox being captured and Krystal saving the day, but nope, Nintendo couldn't be bothered to make Lylat Wars 2, so Rare got their game mutilated into a Starfox game and it suffers greatly for it.
So next time, before Stafox Command, there was a glimmer of hope, and how it burned brightly to only burn away,,,
Next time.
