The Joel MH: Robopon: Sun Version

So you thought with Pokemon's 20th anniversary 2 weeks away,that I wouldn't do anything, well I'm here to slam a rip off and no not Digimon or Monster Rancher, they genuinely did something different, but this game it's a plain honest to god rip off. And yes it's Valentine's Day and why not a special for that, well I only celebrate holidays that I give a shit about and personally Valentine's Day and swivel on a railroad spike.

Robopon quite literally steals everything that makes it, well Robopon from Pokemon, I mean for starters let's look at the cover.

Looks familiar right, well let's remove the armour and add a tail and we get...

Well what do you know, it's an elongated Pikachu with a megaman cannon. But let's not be too hasty, let's look at the game itself by starting with the overworld.

Hey doesn't this look familiar to anyone, it's like I've seen it before.

Nah I'm just imagining things. Now this is an RPG, which in and itself doesn't make it a clone and in fact it's battle system is different...

in the sense of the animation it's SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!, You still choose from a set limit of moves with elements that are strong and weak against others and hell you can even teach them TMs, though it seems to be the only ways they learn moves, I mean their robots, learning new skills on their own isn't likely, I mean it's not like they can evolve.

Wait a minute, they do evolve, how the hell do robots evolve? Well actually to be fair, Porygon is a computer program and that thing evolves and there was that time my PC evolved from Windows 7 to 10 and became a needy tool, so what do I know?

We have a beauty woman robot, so what does she evolve into...

Well at least the types are original or are they?

Anywho, so the graphics are cloned, the battle system and types system is mostly cloned, but what about the story. And to be fair this is the story description from IGN.

"Robopon are robotic creatures that inhabit the planet alongside humans. They can be captured and trained to battle other Robopon. You have just inherited Robopon Dispatching Company from your grandfather, but the business is failing. To start earning a profit, you must become the greatest Robopon master in the world. To do this, you must travel the globe, battling other Robopon masters and collecting the 150 species of Robopon. As Robopon battle, they gain experience and evolve into more powerful types. The cartridge also has an infrared sensor that will allow new attributes to be unlocked by shooting remote control beams into it. An internal clock is built in and will notify you of time-sensitive events. Try to catch them all in ROBOPON: Sun Version."
